I absolutely adore my Cricut Maker machine. I have made so many home decor and gift projects with it (like here and here and here). But whenever I talk to people about my miracle machine, I hit two main concerns; lack of space to use the machine and cost. I do agree that regular Cricut machines (like the Maker and Air) do need a little more “space” to work with. While I have a craft room in the basement, I often find myself lugging the machine up to my kitchen table so I can spread out more (and have more sunlight). And being the budget-conscious person I am, I know that price tag can be a bit of a shocker- although I KNOW that it has paid for itself over time with all the projects I have created. So while I continue to recommend my fave the Cricut Maker… There is a new little Cricut machine that has stolen my heart.
Introducing the Cricut Joy
Cricut must have heard some of the same concerns and have created a new cutting machine that is accessible for so many. The Cricut Joy is a portable and affordable option for those wanting to create personalized DIY projects. Cricut Joy helps you create fun projects, anywhere, and in little time. Because the Joy is such a cute size, you can easily tote this machine around; to your kitchen to make pantry labels, to your child’s room to make wall decals, or to your friend’s house to make custom tee shirts.
And check this out, mats are optional! While the Cricut Joy does come with a small mat, many of the new Cricut Joy materials can be used without a mat at all. Check out the Cricut Joy Smart products, they auto-loads for continuous cuts without a cutting mat. And want to create a long banner or decal? Check out that 20 ft Smart Vinyl!
Right out of the box, I was able to make several professional looking greeting cards (I used the Insert Card and the Insert Card mat found here). Watch the video below for my “unboxing” of the Cricut Joy
What about that affordability? The Cricut Joy retails for $179 (Bundle it up with supplies for the best value). This is more than half of the price of the Maker, which makes it accessible to so many budgets. With no need to buy additional mats for basic projects, it simplifies your DIY experience and costs too. Cricut Joy would make a great gift, is the perfect tool to start a side hustle and will certainly become your new BFF for DIY decor and gift projects. Bring a little JOY to your life today!
