There is something classic and poignant about monogrammed decor especially for a bridal shower or wedding gift. Personally I had just updated a doorbell cover updated a doorbell cover with my own monogram and loved how it turned out. So when I was invited to a bridal shower in the spring, I knew I wanted to create a special monogramed decor item for the newlyweds.
As I was strolling down the aisles of the craft store the idea hit me in the rows of scrapbook pages. So many beautiful pages to fit so many seasons. I decided to make an item that would be multi-season to last throughout the year.
I love swapping out swapping out seasonal printables and placing them in a picture frame to fit the season- another frugal and simple way to change up the decor for each season. And also another inspiration for this project.
Multi Season Monogrammed Frame using Cricut Vinyl
First here are the items you will need to create this project:
- 8X10 Frame
- Several sheets of scrapbook paper (for seasons and to match couple’s decor)
- Cricut Explore Air (this is the machine I have, but any of the Cricut Machines are great!)
- Cricut vinyl (I choose white)
- paper trimmer
- Transfer Tape
When you are looking for the scrapbook paper be sure to take a couple things into consideration: get a variety of seasons and sized backgrounds and also check out the couple’s registry to see if you can match some to their decor. My frame was an 8X10 and some of the scrap book pages were 12X12 or other odd sizes. So my Cricut paper trimmer came in handy to trim the pages down to just the right size to fit into the frame.
Next step is to design the Monogram in the Cricut Design Space. I chose to use a separate border shape to go around the large script monogramed letter.I like to use some thing like the Cricut access font: Elizabeth. And the “est. date” in a contrasting simple text underneath. The process was very similar to how I made the doorbell cover. It really is easy to find the images you want in the Cricut Design Space and layer in the letters.
Once you have cut your vinyl be sure to use the Transfer Tape for this project too. It will ensure that everything stays in the right place.
A Decor Item Ready for Every Season
Volia- Swap out the scrapbook paper behind the glass to fit the season and you have a monogramed frame that will last for seasons to come! This could also be given as an anniversary gift! The bride to be who received this one loved the creativity (definitely not getting duplicates of this one!)
