Do you love shopping at Big Lots for the great deals? Be sure you are using all these ways to save at Big Lots, some you may not have known before.
Ways to Save at Big Lots
If you have followed me for a while, you know that I love shopping at Big Lots for the great deals. But there may be some ways to save at Big Lots that you didn’t know before. So let’s check out these…
8 Ways to Save Big at Big Lots!
1. Join the Big Lots Buzz Club Rewards to Save
The very first thing you need to do is join the Big Lots Reward Card loyalty program. As a member of the the Buzz Club, now called Big Rewards club you will receive special email offers, get early access to special discount shopping events and get perks like receipt look up. Joining is free so it’s a no-brainer! See more details on the reward program here.
2. Always Shop the Big Lots Friends and Family Weekends
One of the best ways to find a Big Lots store coupon is to watch for their Big Lots Friends and Family events. During these weekend events you can score savings by taking advantage of a Big Lots 20% off coupon. These coupons are good for savings on your total purchase- with only a few exclusions (like dairy and gift cards). Typically Buzz Club members will receive the discount when using their reward card on Saturday. Then everyone can score the 20% savings using reward card or a printed coupon on Sunday. These usually happen every couple of months, so watch Mission to Save for details on Big Lots next 20% off sale. (Join the Mission to Save newsletter to stay informed!)
3. Save with Closeouts at Big Lots
Back in the day (mid-80s), Big Lots was called Odd Lots. From the beginning, the store has emphasized selling “closeout” (discontinued, slow sales or damaged) products in order to get the consumer the savings. And this is still true today- Brand names at closeout prices. And sometimes this means buying out other stores. Just a few years ago Big Lots bought out the inventory from some pharmacy chain that went out of business. Many of those items actually still had the original chain price tag on them, with the much lower Big Lots price sticker right next to it.
4. Use Rebate Apps at Big Lots for Additional Savings
While Big Lots doesn’t take coupons, you can use some of the rebate apps at Big Lots. Look for the apps like Checkout 51 and Fetch that do not require you to shop at a specific store. Redeeming your receipt in these apps will earn you points or even cash on top of the already low prices at Big Lots.
5. Check Big Lots Clearance
Like most retail stores, Big Lots puts items on clearance. These products may be damaged, have old packaging, be overstocked or just aren’t selling. Big Lots clearance can usually be found in one or two sections with items from all departments in one place. These items also typically have special clearance stickers showing the marked down price. And from time to time you may also find “clearance events” where special items or departments will offer further savings on specially marked items. Since Big Lots prices are low to start with, finding a great clearance deal can make for a steal!
6. Furniture & Mattresses
Believe it or not, Big Lots furniture and mattresses selection is great! They offer a nice selection and they are often brand name items too! In fact, we shopped Big Lots mattresses first when we replaced the newlywed bed last year. We love our Serta mattress from Big Lots (and the savings help us rest well too). I can also say that Big Lots furniture is a great buy too. Personally we have bought patio furniture from Big Lots and love it! Just this year we bought a new patio table and chairs. We saw a similar set at Lowe’s for a higher price tag. Plus, we bought the table when they were offering a Big Lots coupon for patio furniture and saved even more!
7. Gluten Free and International Items
Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are probably the places that come to mind for buying Gluten Free and International items. However, they are not the most budget friendly stores. I highly recommend checking out the selection of Gluten Free products at Big Lots. You will find name brand items at much lower prices than the stores mentioned above. And there are some fun International items too.
8. Big Lots Online Shopping
Did you know that you can now shop Big Lots online? At the time this was first posted, BigLots.com online shopping was just a couple months old. I am sure as they grow the site, there will be promo codes, free shipping offers and more ways to save at Big Lots (without leaving the house!)
Have I left any out? What ways do you save at Big Lots?

i have a loyal member card how much do i spend toget a discount
Chris, I do not work for Big Lots. So it is best if you ask at your local store. It looks like they have updated the program again, so store associates will have most up to date information. You can contact Big Lots Customer Care by calling 1-866-BIGLOTS (1-866-244-5687) or emailing [email protected]
how do I see my big lots reward points
Angela- I don’t think the program really has points anymore. But if you register your card online, you can see your Rewards account info. You should be able to see some “special offers” in the account section. I hope that helps.
If you want info beyond that… you can contact Big Lots Customer Care by calling 1-866-BIGLOTS (1-866-244-5687) or emailing [email protected]
