Repurposing- Think Outside the Recycle Bin

If you have been a Mission to Save reader for a little while, you know that my family loves to think outside the recycle bin by challenging ourselves to repurpose items.

Whether it is using Pringles cans as boot shapers, reusing office paper for printing coupons, keeping bags tidy with a wipes box (see bag chain how to video here), or coming up with yet another use for a jar– these creative repurposing ideas not only keep the items out of the dump, but they save you money too! For instance, you have a craft room that is in need of organizing. Instead of heading to your local home store and spending money on containers, you can use jars and wipes boxes to store your what-nots.

We used to (ok we still do) give my FIL a hard time about his extreme re-use philosophy. He finds new uses for everything- even the bag from inside the cereal box. And why not!? We have to put aside our pride and realize that empty bread bag would be perfect (and free) to bring your sandwich to work. The empty shredded cheese bag has a great zip closure, so store the bar cheese in it. Getting the picture? It’s all about stretching our mind to think of new uses for these items. Not only will it be helping to “save the Earth” but save us money too!
