Inspired by Mary Poppins Spoonful of Sugar Cake Pops
Don’t you know that a spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down? And these Mary Poppins inspired Spoonful of Sugar cake pops go down in the most delightful way too! With a new movie sequel hitting theatres December 18, 2018, Mary Poppins Returns will be a family favorite I’m sure! (see my review here)
So why not stream the original and classic family fave Mary Poppins and whip up these sweet cake bites for family movie night. Or they would be practically perfect for a party too!
Spoonful of Sugar Cake Pops Supplies
1 box of cake mix – plus the ingredients needed to make it
1 tub of vanilla frosting
White candy melts
White sugar crystals
Plastic spoons
Wax paper
Cake Pop Assembly Instructions
Mix your cake mix according to your package instructions.
Bake the cake and let it cool completely. In a large bowl, crumble the cake.
Add in the frosting. I think a traditional creamy buttercream frosting works the best. Mix together thoroughly with the cake crumbles.
Roll mixture into small cake balls and place onto a wax paper lined cookie sheet. These are going to be smaller than regular cake pops in order to fit onto your spoon. Place the cookie sheet in the freezer for about 20 minutes or until they are set.
(Hint: If your cake mix is hard to roll, place the bowl in the refrigerator for a few minutes!)
In a small bowl, melt the candy melts according to the package directions. Dip one of your cake pops into the white candy coating.
You want it to be evenly coated, but not dripping.
Now add the sugar sprinkles and place back on the cookie sheet.
In your plastic spoon, place a drop of the white candy coating and before it hardens, place your cake pop. Put the spoons on your baking sheet and flash freeze for a few minutes until set. (It won’t take long!)
