Looking for a perfect fall dessert? Try my Grandma’s Apple Crisp! This yummy comfort food recipe has been passed down for years in my family.
Every year our family visits a local orchard and picks apples. It is such a wonderful family tradition and we all love it! Hubs especially loves it, because he knows that means some yummy recipes are going to be made. One of our family’s faves is my Grandma’s Apple Crisp Recipe.
This is an old school, farm recipe handed down from my dad’s side of the family. It’s traditional and had stood the test of time! Serve it warm with a side of ice cream. (growing up that was the homemade kind too!)
I will tell you. When I make it now, I have to double the crust/topping part. Hubs likes his ratio to be more sugar and less fruit! LOL! So try it either way and see how your family prefers it.
Ingredients
- 6-8 apples I have tried many different variety of apples- all are good- it's your preference
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup flour
- 1-2 teaspoons cinnamon
Instructions
- Peel, core and slice the apples (I use an apple peeler corer slicer, the kids like to help with this part.)
- Cut in the butter, sugar, flour and cinnamon (like you would a pie dough).
- Layer the apples and then topping in a 9X13 pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes.
- Best served warm!
Is your mouth watering yet? So pick those apples or grab them on your next grocery run and start making this apple crisp recipe a fall tradition in your home too.
