Decadent Chocolate Cake Mix Recipe
In our house no dinner is complete without a “surprise” (aka- dessert). If you are like me, you don’t have time for scratch cake- but I’ve got a Chocolate Cake Recipe that will make them think you slaved all day! I love finding box mix recipes, this ingredient is easy to have on hand (and find a deal on).
So try this decadent Chocolate Cake – it’s a crowd pleaser (last time I made it everyone called it the “donut”!) This recipe has become my “go-to” for Birthday Cakes too! It’s even been made into a Lego, Mario Mushroom cupcakes and a Minion!
Ingredients
- 1 chocolate cake mix (18.25 oz)
- 1 box of instant vanilla pudding (3.9 oz) 3.9 oz
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 eggs beaten
- 1 cup sour cream or vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
Sour Cream and Chocolate Ganache
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325 degrees F.
- Grease and flour a 10-12 inch bundt pan.
- In a bowl, stir together the cake mix, instant pudding and sugar.
- Add the water, oil, eggs, and sour cream, mix until well blended. Then fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour into the prepared bundt pan. Then bake for 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven. Insert toothpick if it comes out clean- cake is done.
- Cool in pan before inverting onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Sour Cream and Chocolate Ganache
- Melt chocolate chips in microwave in 30 sec intervals until melted
- Add in sour cream and vanilla
- Mix until creamy
- (left overs can be stored in refrigerator and reheated)
