Central Ohio Staycation Destination: Anthony Thomas Factory Tour

Yes, That is a $3000+ Candy Buckeye from the Anthony Thomas Factory!

During Spring Break my family decided to “staycation” right here in Central Ohio.  We had heard of a few fun family activities right here in town and thought it would be fun to check them out.  Although hubs and I both grew up in Columbus, neither one of us had been to the Anthony Thomas Factory.  Who can pass up chocolate!

We arrived at the Factory (in Hilliard off 270) and paid the nominal admission fee ($1 for kids, $2 for adults).  I loved the idea that our ticket price could then be used toward a  purchase in the store after the tour.  We waited a few minutes for the next tour to start and off we went.  There is a catwalk above the factory floor with windows to look down on all the machines and workers busily making the goodies. I can’t believe how much is still done by hand (like adding sea salt on top on caramels).  We happend to be there right before Easter, so we got to see how they make the bunnies too.  I was impressed by several things- but over all you could tell the employees of this multi-generational, family owned business were very loyal and loved working there.

The end of the tour resulted in a tasty Free Buckeye for all! Nice!  I definitely recommend a tour of the Anthony Thomas Chocolate Factory- perfect for the kid in all of us!

Tour Details:

Factory tours are open to the public every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 to 2:30. No appointment is necessary, you may arrive at your convenience between those hours. Groups of 10 or more and Motor Coach Groups are able to schedule an appointment Monday through Thursday between 9:30 and 2:30. (877) 226-3921

Admission Fee: Children under 2 are free. Ages 3 to 18 are $1.00 per person. Ages 19 and over are $2.00 per person. Admission fee may be used towards a purchase. 🙂
