Solution for the “Are We There Yet?” Question
If you have ever traveled with kids, you know there are many different travel problems you can encounter. But there is one thing that can make the trip unbearable… the “Are We There Yet?” question. I saw this idea on… Pinterest somewhere (sorry wish I could give credit but it was in my early pinning days and I didn’t actually pin it). So here is my version. We used this system on our 11 hr drive to the beach and it worked out pretty well (with 2, 5-year-olds and a 9-year-old at the time).
Solution to Common Travel Problem with Kids
I used good old fashioned wooden clothespins with small post-it notes taped on indicating each hour of our trip. (if you are a scrap-booker, you could probably get a little more crafty than I!) I brought a kitchen timer with me so I could keep track of each hour, then when the timer went off we removed a clothespin to count down the hours till arrival.
And on a few of the “flags” I put a small star on the back. Those were for “surprises” along the way (a new movie, fruit snacks, new books…). I also created some Magnetic Car Ride Games to entertain them.
Did I still hear, “are we there yet?” and “how much longer?”. Yep- but I just pointed at the window and that seemed to suffice!
