The Christmas decoration are all down and it seems kind of bare on my mantle. So I thought, why not create a fun Winter scene for decor. I just love how these repurposed light globes made the perfect inspiration for this winter decorating idea.
The inspiration came as I was scrolling through one of my Facebook buy/sell groups. This group is actually a “Freecycle” page- meaning that all the items are FREE! Even better- one woman’s trash is another’s treasure, right?! When I got them home, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to do with them. But it was around the time of Christmas Clearance, so I got more inspiration from those sweet little snowbirds and copper wire lights.
Winter Decorating Idea Using Repurposed Light Globes
I played around with the placement a little, but ended up with this little winter vignette that I love! And how appropriate for those fab light fixtures to … light up! The wire lights are perfect – pliable to fit inside the light globes and thin enough not to be seen wrapped through the display.
Here are the items I used for this fun upcycled project:
- 3 repurposed light globes – the vintage hobnail is so adorable.
- snow batting
- gift box (to use for creating height)
- snowbird ornaments
- burlap monogram letter (another Christmas clearance find, the snowflakes make it more than just for Christmas)
- Copper wire lights
Here is a little decorating tip I learned, the eye loves to see the things in odd numbers. That’s why I used 3 globes for the main focus of the display. Also, the letter and birds actually make their own “odd” number when your brain views the whole scene. Varying the heights is also a decorating trick to add visual interest.
Do you decorate your home for the winter? Will you be on the hunt for these glass globes now too?
I mean how cute is that!?! Warms the heart on a cold day.
