Target Toy Clearance is On! Every year around this time in January, Target starts to clear out their toy aisles. The savings start at 30% off then go to 50, 75 and even 90% off. Typically markdowns happen on Thursdays. I always recommend to scan each clearance item. You might find an item that has a sticker priced for just 30% off. But when you scan it, you find it’s even more of a savings.
For instance, the CraZ Art My Look bags in the picture above were marked down from $16.49, on clearance for $11.54, but they rang up at the register for $7.62! That’s just over 50% off. And the Barbie Ballerina was 75% off.
While you are there, be sure to take one last look at the seasonal clearance. You might even find some interesting things other than just wrapping paper. I found the orange scarf in the front for just $1.49. And the Colgate kids toothpaste was just $0.29.
Why you may ask am I buying all of these things now? I have what’s called a “gift closet”, so when I have a birthday party pop-up I have something ready to give. I have even been known to find Christmas gifts during the January toy sale (how about the Dinosaur Train Set my nephew got this Christmas that I found in Jan ’12- $60 set for just $9!)
Be sure to stalk Target like me the next few weeks. Pricing and selection varies by store. And let me know what you found for your “gift closet”. See reader Deanna’s clearance haul.

I was at Lennox. But this clearance happens at all Target’s (even nationwide). The markdowns have started, but they can vary by store. I plan on checking out another store later this week just so I can give you all an update. But def check back later this week, you should see more stickers and signs popping up! 🙂

What store in the Columbus area do you visit? I go to one in Hilliard and did not find much there as far as toys.
