He Cbus peeps. Are you looking for the perfect Columbus day trip? Or maybe an Ohio staycation destination? Then make a sweet stop in Utica, Ohio for a visit to Velvet Ice cream factory and Ye Olde Mill. It’s not too far from Columbus and has lots of fun to offer!
Take a Free Velvet Ice Cream Factory Tour
During a 30 min walking tour, you will learn the history of Velvet Ice Cream and see the ice cream in production. This multi-generational family business has a long history of making amazing ice cream. They also value history in general, I loved hearing about Ye Olde Mill’s history and the underground railroad connection. Also, the kids history of ice cream area is super fun!
I was really impressed with the entire “grounds” at Velvet. There is a playground and shelter area, the museum and factory as well as restaurant and shop. Definitely makes for more than just an ice cream stop. In fact, you can even book your wedding there! How fun!
Utica Sertoma Ice Cream Festival
During the Memorial Day weekend, Join join the Velvet family to celebrate everything ice cream! There’s fun for the whole family, including contests for kids, ice cream eating contests, over 90 local artisans, pony rides, classic car show with more than 400 cars and live entertainment. Saturday, Sunday and Monday are filled with tons of fun and of course ice cream! See the current ice cream festival schedule here.
Kid’s Night at Velvet Ice Cream’s Ye Olde Mill Restaurant
It’s ok to eat dessert first at the Wheel Room Restaurant. Not only does this on site (in Ye Olde Mill) restaurant serve up the famous Velvet Ice cream flavors live Buckeye Classic, Moose Tracks and Raspberry Fudge Cordial but they also have a full menu of salads, sandwiches and wraps. AND on select Tuesday nights, it’s Kid’s Night at the Wheel Room Restaurant and that means Kid’s eat free with each adult meal purchased. You know I love that! Check on all the Kid’s nights and more Velvet Events on the Calendar here. (BTW- pictured below is the “Messy Mess” Sundae. It’s a must!)
Thanks to Velvet Ice Cream for hosting our family for a Spring Break Staycation Trip. We had a sweet time. All opinions are our own. And yes the ice cream was delicious!
