I love to throw a party (like this one)! Especially sentimental showers (for the bride or mom to be) Decorating for these celebrations doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact one of my favorite party decorations is really very, easy.
A Party Decoration for Any Celebration
I am a flag gal. I just love how they add a pop of color, theme or season to the front of your house. And I have even been know to fly two at once (I have two poles on my porch!). During preparation for a baby shower one year, I had purchased floral ribbon to use on a diaper cake. That ribbon inspired my Ribbon Flag idea.
How to Make a Simple Ribbon Flag
First cut long strips of the ribbon. I like this floral poly satin ribbon because it is wide and holds up in the weather. When cutting the length remember two things: 1. cut the length twice as long as you want it since it will be looped through. 2. decide if you want all lengths the same or to vary the lengths.
Next, lay your flag pole between two chairs or a similar items. You will need to be able to work around the center of the pole.
Now you will begin to loop the ribbon onto the pole. Fold the ribbon in half, pull the ends down through the loop, around the pole. Hardest part is remembering which side to pull through so they will all go the same way. Do this over and over until you get the desired look.
This simple banner is fully customizable with your color scheme. And it’s simplicity makes it a savvy and cheery addition to your party decor. (want to see it “LIVE”?, check out the video here.Be sure to comment too!)
So what do you think? Love it? Would you make it?
