One of my favorite donation opportunities of the year is Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. All year long we collect items to fill out boxes to send to beautiful children all over the world. Collection week is November 18-25. Filling a shoebox is easy. Read the 5 easy steps to packing your shoebox and get to filling! This is a great thing for kids to get involved with too. Each year my kiddos help fill the boxes and pray for the child who will receive them. Consider having your kiddos pick one, gently used, toy of their own to add to the box. It’s a wonderful way to share the HOPE of the season (with children on both sides of the box). Freebie toothbrushes/toothpaste, school items and dollar spot deals are perfect items to add to your box. Are you filling boxes this year? If so, I would love to see pics!
And this year OCC has teamed up with an a great family to promote their ministry- The Robertson’s of Duck Dynasty fame. This video is a little long (7 min) but I encourage you to watch it. Yes, there is classic Si humor. But the best part is his prayer at the end!

Someone needs to start a program like this for children right here in the United States. There are plenty of families in need in are own country.

Jamie usually you can go to your local fire Dept. or the Red Cross and they will know to hook you up with to help.

Jamie, I am so sorry to hear that. OCC shoeboxes primarily go to children outside of the country. But I do know sometimes they offer then in the states too. I am checking on it for you. Also, are you in the Columbus area? I am checking on another option for you as well. Please email me at [email protected] and I will let you know what I find out.
