I will admit… I am not a reader. Well I should say, “anymore”. In elementary and middle school I loved to read. My genre of choice tends to be more fantasy oriented (L’Engel, Lewis, and Peretti). But high school and college turned reading into a task and I no longer found joy in it (reading Lord of the Flies was not my idea of a fun time!)
Since my college graduation (more than a few years ago) there have been seasons of my life where I have rekindled that love of reading for pleasure. For instance, when the Left Behind came out- I devoured that series!
Leave it up to one of my fave devotional and children’s book authors to bring me back again. Max Lucado’s Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe is right up my alley. At first I was a little surprised by the “fantasy” aspect of this story. Although I’m not sure why I should have been. One thing I love so much about Lucado’s children’s book is the imagination.
Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe is a story about hope, faith and heavenly help! 🙂 Chelsea Chambers comes home to take over her family’s old school business This newly single mom is not prepared for how the simple cafe – turns complicated- and changes her life. This storyline is as sweet as the goodies Chelsea serves her customers. And of course I love the internet connection. (pun intended). I’d love to ask a question to “The God Blog”! What would your question be?
Maybe this is not a new thing, but since I have already admitted to not being as much of a “reader”….I thought it was very interesting that there are discussion questions listed in the back of this book. So if your book club is looking for a new read- they already have some great questions to kick off your conversations.
One more thing that made me smile… Yes Max I saw the Before Amen nod! 😉
“God I need help” Chelsea, pg 40
Right now you can purchase Miracle at the High Grounds Cafe by Max Lucado with Candace Lee and Eric Newman at Family Christian.

As a children’s author, I also don’t read “adult” books to often. However, like your, love Max Lucado and could not resist his new book. Can’t wait to see what he writes next.
