“Well, well…” Wednesday night my niece and I got to pre-screen Maleficent in IMAX 3D. WOW, just WOW! I love how Disney has re-imagined one of it’s classics. The story of Maleficent is dark and sensitive all at the same time. Reminiscent of Wicked (the story behind the story)- Maleficent brings this classic story back to life. The special effects (especially in 3D) are stunning. And I have to say, not always a Jolie fan, but she did an ah-mazing adding so many layers to this role. And I think my fave character is Diaval (but I won’t give away anything on him!) I definitely would say this is movie theatre worthy! (Even enough battle scenes for the guys too!)
I was asked by a friend if this movie is ok for her 8 yr old daughter. Honestly, I always err on the conservative side when it comes to movies. Our kiddos will have plenty of time to see more mature movies. I told her I think my 10 yr old son would be ok- but there are some intense (and a little scary scenes). The following trailer shows little bits of the battle scene and the dragon, so you can see if it would be right for your kiddo. Also, we use Dove.org as a tool to make informed movie choices for our kiddos. See their Maleficent review/rating.
Plus, if you do go to see this in theatre, be sure to keep those ticket stubs! You can get up to 200 Disney Movie Rewards points! A total of up to four ticket stubs per Disney Movie Rewards Member account for 50 points each. Offer good 5/30/14 through 7/31/14.
Why do I post about Disney, Marvel and DreamWorks Movies? Because they are fun! I receive all kinds of great info to share with you about on the newest films. In return, I often get to see a pre-screen of these movies. Then I can tell you if you should spend your money on a ticket… or wait for DVD!
