Take a moment of silence… The day I was dreading has come… Kroger will stop doubling coupons on May 1st, 2014.!
This is not a huge surprise (I was just holding out hope it wouldn’t happen) since Meijer discounted doubles as did several other Kroger regions late last year.
In The Columbus Dispatch article today they state:
In Kroger’s case, less than 2 percent of Columbus-area customers are what the grocer calls “heavy coupon users,” the company said in a statement, and a vast majority of customers — 86 percent — don’t use double coupons at all.
Well my friends… I have to disagree! And I think you would too! So head on over to the Kroger Facebook page and “politely” let them know your opinion! I am sure it won’t change their plans. But it will show them that “we” (couponers and those trying to save for our families!) are bigger than 2%!
UPDATE: If you live in the state up north, you are one of the lucky ones (at least for Kroger shopping). I have learned that parts of Michigan, Colorado and Arizona will continue to double coupons (for now).
I will continue to shop at Kroger (until I find a better solution). And if you will too- don’t forget to check out my weekly Kroger Matchups

I’m so sad we are losing double coupons at Kroger. If it is only 2% of customers who take advantage, what does it possibly cost them to continue? It is a sad day. Thanks for the heads up. I will be doing a lot of shopping in the next month.

Erica-
I agree, I don’t really think it is about the lack of people using them. It will be interesting to see if they really lower prices. I know my friends in Cincy said the lower prices didn’t stick around long after their doubles stopped. 🙁 Very disappointing day!
