Kroger Scan, Bag, Go Adds Convenience To Your Shopping List
You may have noticed a new option in your local Kroger store (currently available in 19 Columbus area stores with 10 more being added by the end of 2018. With 400 locations available nationwide) called Scan, Bag, Go; honestly that’s exactly what it is. Pick up a scanner (or use the Scan, Bag, Go app on your phone), use it to scan your items as you move though the store, bag your products as you do and then GO!
But let’s step through the process so you can see just how great this new option is and how convenient it is in giving you control of your shopping experience.
Your Scan, Bag, Go shopping begins by picking up a scanner and scanning your Kroger Plus card. Of course I love this because that means you will be connected to all the sale prices, current Mega sale promotions and digital coupon offers. At this time you can also pick up the bags at the scanner station or use your own reusable grocery bags.
Now it’s time to start shopping!
I think the produce department is the place where people have the most questions, and since it’s right in the front of the store let’s start there. For produce that needs weighed,
- First scan the bar code on the item label
- Then scan the barcode on the specially marked Scan, Bag, Go scale
- Weigh your produce
- Follow the prompts on the scanner
- Voila! your produce has been added to your order and you can place it in the bags in your cart.
That’s as “difficult” as it gets. All the other items in the store just get scanned and added to your cart. You can even scan alcohol (just note you will have to verify your driver’s license with attendant at the Scan Bag Go checkout lane).
I love that you can even scroll though available coupons as you are shopping to see if you want to add any to your account. Or to make sure you add an items that you already “clipped” a coupon for; stacking up the savings on those sale items, love that!
My first trip was also during a Mega Sale promotion, so I was a little worried about whether the promotional savings would come off. Not to worry! All my store sales, digital offers (like Free Friday) and even a special $5 off $35 (for the first 3 times using Scan, Bag, Go) all came off at the register.
Checkout Is a Breeze with Scan, Bag, Go
Speaking of the register, when you are ready to checkout, all you need to do is look for the special Scan, Bag, Go self-checkout registers and use the scanner to start the check out process. If you do not have paper coupons, you’ll be done in a flash! And if you are using the Scan, Bag, Go app you will pay right on your phone! If you do have paper coupons, like I did of course, an attendant will come over and scan those coupons and you will be on your way soon too.
As I was leaving the store, I ran into another customer who was coming in to use Scan, Bag, Go. I asked her why she liked using it. She said it saves her time and she felt like she could keep track of what she was buying easier this way (you can even see a running total on the scanner). And one of my Mission to Save Facebook friends says she uses it “all the time… Would never go back! It’s the best!”
So what do you think? Would YOU use Scan, Bag, Go at Kroger?
