You may have heard the latest grocery store news- Giant Eagle Discontinues Foodperks!
With the Foodperks program, Giant Eagle Advantage Card holders received a 1% discount off their grocery bill for every 10 gallons of GetGo gas pumped (up to 20%). Many customers are upset about the loss of this perk. (Their Facebook page was filled with frustrated customers on Monday).
Giant Eagle says not everyone liked the structure of the program and that “…approximately 92 percent of Giant Eagle Advantage Card customers saved less than $40 each from foodperks! in the preceding 12 months.”
In an attempt to make up for the loss of the program, Giant Eagle has instituted a new fuel discount offer. Now when you swipe your Advantage card at GetGo stations you will always get at least $0.03 off (similar to Kroger).
So… Once again we see a major grocery retailer changing their savings program. Will the loss of Foodperks send you looking for another grocery? Honestly- I am not a regular GE shopper (only shop there for the really big deals). So for me it’s no loss. But I know others who swear by their Giant Eagle savings. Would love to hear where you stand!
