Hubs and I have always been the DIY types. Not only does it save money, but there is a sense of accomplishment that goes along with each project. Our very first house was a sweet little 1920’s 2 story and we DIYed EVERYTHING in that house. Of course, that was pre-kids… Now we find that there is not as much time for these DIY projects. We would much rather spend a day at the Basketball courts than working on the “to do” list. Sometimes time does = money! So when Fresh Coat Painters approached me about receiving a room painting, I jumped on the opportunity.
If you have kiddos you also know that your walls can take a beating! So we knew right away our family room needed a “fresh coat” for sure. Now hubs still has that DIY in his veins (and he also is a little, *cough* particular about the way things are done) so he patched MANY of the nicks and dings on our walls. But actually Fresh Coat can take care of most of these superficial marks for you.
Steve, President of Fresh Coat Painters Westerville, came out to take measurements of the room, discuss my Sherwin-Williams paint options and go over the the entire process. He also ensured me that all his painters are bonded and insured. Being a “techy” kind of gal- I really appreciated his intake process being done on a tablet. It made it easy to see all the details on site and then he sent the information to me via email as well. When companies embrace technology (and social media: like Fresh Coat Painters and Fresh Coat Westerville on Facebook) it always makes a good impression (IMO).
When painting day came (the next day!), I was again impressed with the attention to detail on the prep. Drop clothes, painters tape, caulking and primer were all used before the brushes hit the wall. It was also very nice that our room was done in one day. If we had done it ourselves, we probably would have had to draw it out over a few days to fit within our busy family schedule. Unfinished DIY projects can cause unwanted stress for a family.
Another thing that can be stressful is when you hire a company to do the job (instead of doing it yourself) and then the result isn’t what you would have expected. This was not our experience with Fresh Coat Painters. They were very professional and provided excellent service. (Hubs was so impressed at the skill level, the painter hand cut in the walls/ceiling- WOW!) And most of all, they saved us precious time, so we could enjoy the room again as a family!
And I am excited to say that Fresh Coat is offering a special giveaway just for Mission to Save readers. One lucky winner will WIN a $250 credit toward painting services from Fresh Coat Painters*.

I’m usually a DIY person as well. But we just moved into a home with 9 foot ceilings, and so much wall space. Doing this ourselves would take about a week… assuming we took 5 days off of work and hired a babysitter to keep our toddler out of the wet paint. We’re probably going to hire a painting team to get it done in 1-2 days.

I would choose the stairway.

I’ve always regretted painting my kids’ bathroom bright orange, so as we plan to sell our house in the next few months I would consider a more neutral color!
