I am sooo excited for you all to “meet” this blogger. You will fall in love with her adorable wit, eclectic style and be inspired to thrift! It’s a pleasure to introduce you to Ally of of Fever Thrift*…
I feel so honored that Mary asked me to do a guest post! Fever Thrift* is a place where I share the things I find at thrift stores (which, in truth, is mainly clothes for myself…) and some tricks that I use to find said items.
I love to thrift. Almost as much as I love to Pin pictures of T-rexes (is that the correct plural of “rex”?) on Pinterest…which is a lot. I have 6 pictures of T-rexes pinned and I’ll have you know that I don’t plan to stop at 7 (those short arms just kill me). However! I know that thrifting isn’t for everyone. Either are dinosaurs, for that matter.
Thrift stores (and dinosaurs?) can be pretty intimidating! When I am short on time, I have a few “go-to” sections I’d like to share that I hope will make the experience a little less overwhelming for new thrifters:
1) Belts
I always look through belts! They are easy to try on. They are rarely overpriced (cost is usually $.99). They go with everything. Leather ages well so it’s unlikely you’ll find an AMAZING belt only to discover it, say, has a stain. Make sure to check out the men’s belt section, too!
#1- Vintage Leegin Leather Belt $.99
#2- Aldo Leather Belt $1.99
#3- Beaded Leather Belt $.99
#4- Leopard Pony Hair Leather Belt $.99
See some more of my favorite thrifted belts here!
(Today, I found Coach, Talbots, J.Crew, Gap, AND American Eagle belts. I didn’t buy any- I just found them. And left them. For you to find.)
2) Scarves
Rarely overpriced. You don’t have to try them on. Never out of season! It’s easy to find silk ones because it seems that scarves is a section that many neglect (don’t let it be you!)
I’m planning on making these two into pillow covers (both $2.99):
On my last trip, I found three designer silk scarves but I only ended up buying one with a lady on it ($1.99) I plan to frame it!
Other items I like to look out for:
–Silk Blouses (100% Silk Dana Buchman one here)
–Board Games (old school Clue here, but I’ve also thrifted my favorites Scattergories and Blokus!)
What are your go-to sections and best bang-for-your-buck items?
(Do you love dinosaurs?)
I would love to hear all about it!
:)Ally
P.S. If you found this helpful, here is a list of all my thrifting tips.
LOVE, those scarves. I’m a scarf addict. BTW you must have accidentally dropped one. I found it, put it in my cart and I’m wearing it in my latest post.
A scarf as a shirt, what a great idea!
I love to thrift pencil skirts, pants, and silk shirts.
My fave thing to thrift is shoes. Easy to try on and I have a bit of a shoe obsession anyway…. 😉
Love the moose and these are some great tips. Oooo, wouldn’t a quilt made from silk scarves be colourful and luscious to touch!
Good post Ally and I can’t wait to see more from you.
She did a great job, didn’t she!?! A silk scarf blanket, ooo yes!
