Hubs often says he is lucky to be married to a woman who loves sports. It’s true, I am a bit “eclectic” in my tastes- fan of Ballet and Football! Not only do I love the game of football in general- I also love that as the season draws to an end and the Big Game approaches… it’s the perfect excuse to throw a party! 🙂 And it just so happens I live in a town (really the whole state) that loves to celebrate our football teams!
What’s On You Big Game Snack Menu?
So what food comes to mind when you think of tailgating and football food? Dips! Nachos and cheese, french onion and veggies… dips are the perfect portable party food for your Big Game festivities. Usually these dips are salty and savory, but why not add a sweet dip to your lineup? I recently was shopping at Walmart and found a caramel flavored cream cheese spread. I have never seen this product anywhere but Walmart and that’s where my sweet dip inspiration started.
Hubs is not a fan of caramel by it’s self, but LOVES SNICKERS®! In fact, it’s the one candy bar that I always buy him for holidays and special occasions. I knew that caramel cream cheese would pair perfectly to make an Extra Caramel SNICKERS Dip. So I snagged the cream cheese, some whipped topping and headed over to the candy aisle. I decided to go with the package of bite sized SNICKERS minis. I figured they would be easier to “chop” (and if I ate a few in the process– no biggie! 😉 )
Extra Caramel SNICKERS Dip Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 tub whipped topping
- 1 tub caramel cream cheese (or if you want a little more subtle caramel flavor use half flavored and half plain cream cheese)
- 1 packet of vanilla puddling (just the powder)
- 1 cup chopped SNICKERS (about 10-12 minis sized pieces)
Instructions:
- I first tried using a hand held food chopper on the SNICKERS. That wasn’t able to make the tackle. So I got out my food processor instead and sacked those SNICKERS (ok… no more football puns in the recipe! LOL!)
- Mix all the ingredients together… that’s it!
- Serve with graham crackers or pretzel crisps (for a salty sweet combo)
The pudding mix really helps this become more stiff. This isn’t fluffy- it’s a hardy dip! (Some reason I thought this was more appropriate for the rough gridiron theme)
While I was in the candy aisle I spotted a bag Skittles® too. What a perfect addition to the party. Why you say? Because you can use them to show off your team colors! Grab a few bags of the classic colors and fill up a jar (you know I love my repurposed jars!). Not only will it add some team spirit to your spread, but it’s hard to resist grabbing a few handfuls to snack on. If your fave team in the Big Game doesn’t have a color in the classic Skittles bag, check out the other flavors too. The Desserts and Darkside Skittle have blue shades that might be a game winner!
Just for fun, check out this great Skittles ad running right now. It’s Awesomer! We are big Kurt Warner fans (and not just for his great football career!).
Be sure to Pin this recipe too! 🙂

I love the idea of using the pudding mix to help thicken the dip. This looks like a touchdown to me – just following up on your football themed puns 🙂 #client
