My family had the opportunity to screen this movie, and I am excited to say that Marvel has done it again! I’m not even exaggerating when I say my 12-year-old daughter turned to me in the middle of the movie and said, “This is my new favorite movie Mom!”
And I can see why! This origin story is packed with the action, special effects and humor you expect from Marvel Studios. And for all you 1990’s fans, this soundtrack is fly! (My kids may have been a little embarrassed as I sang along during the movie). PLUS, Captain Marvel shows us all that the female superheroes are not to be messed with. I love how she is such a strong, and yet complex, character for our daughters, in particular, to look up to. There’s No Doubt, she’s not Just a Girl! 😉
Speaking of 12-year-olds, I am often asked: “what age is this movie good for”. This film is rated PG-13. As with most Marvel movies, the action/battle scenes can get intense, but thankfully not graphic (think of your typical comic book battle scenes). There are some curse words that pop up, so just be forewarned. We are pretty conservative in what our kids watch, but I would say kids 10 and up would handle this film fine.
