Writing on this blog has given me a platform to share with you about ways to save- time, money and sanity. A new twist on this is the opportunity to test drive some great vehicles. I hope my “mom’s take” on these cars will be helpful information if you are looking to purchase a new ride.
I really was quite excited to get a chance to test drive the Kia Soul. I have always been curious about this fun little crossover SUV. And I wasn’t disappointed. It’s hard not to feel hip and on trend when you are driving in this “box” on wheels. Not to mention mom got “cool points” with the kids!
Once again I just love the features on this car: heated seats and steering wheel, full “Panoramic” sunroof, BLUETOOTH® Wireless Hands-Free Connectivity w/Steering Wheel-Mounted Controls, rear back up cam, and push button start (I still have a hard time getting used to that). For as many features are loaded into this car- I was pretty surprised at the modest price- with upgrades starting at MSRP of $19,000. This is the perfect car for in town commuting too with an average 26 mpg.

Of course the kids and I had to recreate a few of the classic Kia Soul hamster commercials (they really are so clever, google it!). Not sure what happened to the sound on this one- but we really were jammin! 😉
Here are a few accolades to note on the Soul:
- 2015 “Highest Compact Multi-Purpose Vehicle Initial Quality” by J.D. Power
- Overall 5-Star Crash Safety Rating for the 2015 Kia Soul
- Named Best Family Cars of 2015 by Kelley Blue Book
- 2015 IIHS Top Safety Pick
- Named Best Hatchback for Families by U.S. News
- AutoPacific Best in Class Vehicle Satisfaction Award
Looking forward to my next DriveShop test drive and review. All opinions are mine, of course!
