Writing on this blog has given me a platform to share with you about ways to save- time, money and sanity. Another twist on this is the opportunity to test drive some great vehicles. I hope my “mom’s take” on these cars will be helpful information if you are looking to purchase a new ride.
When my contact told me I would be rolling around town for the week in a Mazda6 (Grand Touring), I have to say I was excited. It’s been 10 years since I regularly drove a 4 door sedan. And this one is a thousand times more sporty than the one I had a decade ago.
If you are looking for a 4 door car, I definitely recommend this one. With the right mix of sporty, practical and “zoom-zoom”!
Once again the “bells ‘n whistles” on these cars always catch my attention. Like how about this clever little display screen strategically placed above the steering wheel on the dashboard. Not only did it make it easy for me to see what speed I was going- but the kids kept me honest too. 😉
I really liked the center console controls. No need to look down, just spin the wheel to scroll through for music and nav options. Although hubs was not a fan of this feature, I liked it.
And how about the trunk space? I was actually super surprised to see how deep the trunk was. I had no problem getting all my usual weekly shopping into the trunk. And I actually think it was a little easier to unload it all since the truck sits up a little higher than my vans. (The crates of milk are leftovers from our school that we donate to a pantry each week).
Realistically, this is not a car for a mid/large family (anymore than 4 people). But it’s a great option for smaller families and those new moms who aren’t ready to make the minivan mom switch just yet! 😉
Some accolades for the Mazda6

Looking forward to my next DriveShop test drive and review. All opinions are mine, of course!
