Did Santa bring you a new tablet or smartphone? Me too! There are thousands of apps out there! I have been using the following free apps on my iPad, but now that I am a Smartphone user, I’m sure I will be on the hunt for more. These are just a few faves, and you know I’ll start with one that saves!
I need to do another post… but here are a few more I have found:
WRAPP: This app allows you to send gift cards to your friends (connected to Facebook). Most you have to buy the gift card to send (nice of an easy gift). But sometimes they have FREE gift cards you can send. See the ones that came out recently here.
Shopkick: Earn points for “walking in” to stores and scanning items inside. These points can be redeemed for gift card rewards. Target is my fave on this app, also has coupons sometimes too. Get it here.
MORE GROCERY REBATE APPS– I mention Ibotta below, but there are several others now. See my full list of these grocery rebate apps and start saving/earning on your grocery purchases today. See list here.
Ibotta– This Free app pays you cash for buying your favorite products in the store. When you download the Ibotta app you will find lots of great products listed. Perform the actions for an item you are wanting to purchase to accumulate savings on that item. Then head on in to your store and purchase the item. Currently, Ibotta works with 24 popular retailers in the US. When you get home, scan your store receipt and item bar code and your Ibotta account will be credited. Once you reach $5 you can cash out via PayPal or donate your earnings to a school. It is really that easy! See all my latest Ibotta posts here. (use this download link to check out both Andriod and iTunes options and be eligible for $5 credit)
Viggle– Do you watch TV? Then you need to use Viggle! Earn points just for watching your favorite TV shows. These points can then be redeemed for rewards! Basically, you “check in” while watching TV and earn points based on that show (and play along with trivia and games during the show to earn more). Rewards rotate, some have included FREE music downloads, Fandango movie tickets, gift cards to stores/restaurants like CVS, Target, Chili’s, Starbucks’, Best Buy, Old Navy, Burger King, Sephora, and lots more! Read more about Viggle here. (Download from iTunes or Android).
Pandora Radio-Are you in the mood for some music? 80’s pop? Classic rock? Anything that sounds like Michael Buble? Then check out Pandora Radio. This great app allows you to choose your tunes based on theme or artist. And it’s almost ad free (a ad will play every 5 or so songs). What “Stations” are one your Pandora list? Right now my top 3 are TobyMac, 80’s Pop and Christmas Radio. (Download from iTunes or Android)
MyeChain– Between grocery, drug store, restaurant and retail rewards cards- your key chain can fill up fast with those little plastic cards. MyeChain is a perfect smartphone app to alleviate this problem. Scan in all you cards and then simply show the cashier the bar code on your phone. There is a paid version of this app, but I think the Freebie works great. Do you have a spouse that isn’t so coupon savvy? I downloaded this on hubs phone and he actually remembers to scan the loyalty cards now! 😉 (Download from iTunes or Android)
RedLaser– This app is a barcode scanner, shopping assistant & QR code reader all in one! It allows you to scan or search for items to make sure you have all the information you need, including product details, ratings and price comparison. Last spring we were in our local Kmart that was closing- specifically looking for a basketball hoop. We found one and scanned the bar code using the RedLaser app. The search results gave us prices online and in stores for the item. Thanks to RedLaser we realized it was actually about a 40% savings, so we scored on the hoop! (Download from iTunes or Android)
RetailMeNot-Do you use this site online when looking for promo codes? Well now you can use it on the go too. The improved location-based coupons app for iPhone includes geo-fencing capabilities that enable consumers to receive local coupon notifications for nearby stores at hundreds of shopping malls across the United States. It also has a simple, easy-to-use interface with curated “Hot Deals” from popular stores and access via search to RetailMeNot’s best online and in-store coupons from thousands of merchants. Plus it gives you the ability to save coupons for later use! (Download from iTunes or Android)
Allrecipes – Sooo many dinners have been saved by the AllRecipe app. Have ham and asparagus in the fridge, but don’t know where to begin? Type those ingredients into the search and it will show you a bunch of recipes with the chosen ingredients. Sure you can use the Free version, but I like the Pro upgrade paid one for iPad because it has a “recipe box” option. Once you find your kid’s fave mac and cheese recipe or hubby’s fave dessert, you can save it to your virtual recipe box so you can find it easily next time. (Download from iTunes or Android– a little different on phones than on tablet I think)
I know there are LOTS of other Free apps (and cheapies too) out there. What are your faves? Tell me what to use on my iPhone! And be watching for a part two once I get the hang of my new gadget!
