2021 Update: There has been quite the controversy over Dr. Seuss in recent years. My general thought on the matter is that 2 things can be true at the same time: Dr. Seuss created captivating children’s literature that encourages young readers AND some of his early works contain culturally insensitive images. I have removed those books from this list. However, many of his books also encourage children not only to read but also to stand up for what’s right (Lorax and Horton) and appreciate those who are different (The Sneetches). Let’s redeem what’s good as we distance ourselves from what is wrong.
Ok. I couldn’t resist posting this picture. My all time favorite halloween was when the kiddos wore these Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 costumes. I mean look at those faces! 😉 Looking for a way to celebrate Dr. Seuss Day? Try making Grinch Fruit Kabobs for a yummy (and healthy) snack.
